Walk

Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk into the setting sun
Gonna walk into the setting sun
Gonna step into the anger ball
And let it burn til it’s all done
Gonna walk until my legs stop feeling
Gonna walk until my legs stop feeling
And the numbness creeps up to the ceiling
And colors over the view
Gonna walk until my legs stop pumping
Gonna walk until my heart stops thumping
Gonna walk until my legs stop pumping
Gonna walk until my heart stops
Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk until the anger’s gone
Gonna walk into the setting sun
Gonna walk into the setting sun
Gonna step into the anger ball
And let it burn til it’s all done
Gonna walk until my legs stop pumping
Gonna walk until my legs stop pumping
Gonna walk until my heart stops thumping
Gonna walk until my heart stops

Jackrabbit

Jackrabbit baby, jackrabbit time
Jump across the border of good taste and find
Something that feels like you
Perverted and dirty but true
Gladhanding baby, gladhanding smile
Almost to the border, run another mile
Burning inside from your lungs to your toes
Keep it in check so that nobody knows
Who’s bought up shares of your loyalty
Let’s follow the dollar and see
Who’s waiting in the wings to collect
As their demands get more direct
Jackrabbit baby, your ass is in the air
Flying off the auction block
Flying who knows where
To something that feels like you
Perverted and dirty but true
So who’s bought up shares of your loyalty
Let’s follow the dollar and see
Who’s waiting in the wings to collect
As their demands get more direct
Jackrabbit baby, jackrabbit time
Jump across the border of good taste and find
Something that feels like you
Perverted and dirty but true
Burning inside from your lungs to your toes
Keep it in check so that nobody knows
Who’s bought up shares of your loyalty
Let’s follow the dollar and see
Who’s waiting in the wings to collect

Goodnight
03:37
|
|
||
Goodnight, baby goodnight
Shut your eyes on me and snooze
I know you wanna leave me
Well I wanna leave me too
If I could I’d make up a better plan
And if I could I’d wake up a happy man
I know that look in your eyes
Bored, sick, despised
Worn down to threads by
Years of compromise
If I could I’d make up a better plan
And if I could I’d wake up a happy man
Goodnight, baby goodnight
Shut your eyes on me and snooze
I know you wanna leave me
Well I wanna leave me too
If I could I’d make up a better plan
And if I could I’d wake up a happy man

Evil
04:39
|
|

Evil don’t find me here
A pool of blood
Out the back of a dumpster
On a night when you walked all alone
Walking home, walking home, walking home
When things fall apart
And your grace is through
When manna doesn’t fall from the sky anymore
But jet planes do
Flying home, flying home, flying home
Evil don’t find me here
You work and save
And you live out your sweet life
Til the sickness comes and takes all you own
Sell your home, sell your home, sell your home
Evil don’t find me here

You’re under the gun, and you’re sleeping alone
You think it’s over and done, til they break through the stone
And if you ever need somebody to bleed on
I’m wearing my suit
And keep a knife in my boot
So keep your eyes on that nail in the coffin
On the thread as it winds off the bobbin
And there at the end of your rope
You’ll test the aerodynamics of hope
You didn’t deserve, the poison cake
Now you’re thin as a bird, til you cough up the snake
And after you’ve punished yourself enough
You can come back to life
In this place it’s alright
So keep your eyes on that nail in the coffin
On the thread as it winds off the bobbin
And there at the end of your rope
You’ll test the aerodynamics of hope
So if you ever need somebody to bleed on
I’m wearing my suit
And keep a knife in my boot
So keep your eyes on that nail in the coffin
On the thread as it winds off the bobbin
And there at the end of your rope
You’ll test the aerodynamics of hope

All you fucking fakers
I’ll arrange you to meet your makers
Twist you up like a pretzel, kick you out on the tide
We watched you float away, and guess what? Nobody cried
You fucking fakers
All you horrid haters
I’ll feed you to the gators
So bitter in life, in death as well no doubt
So you tasted terrible, and the gators spat you out
You horrid haters
All you sweet dumb creatures
Missing half your features
Disfigured by design, and singing with half a heart
Who taught you to hide away the most beautiful part?
You sweet dumb creatures
All you fucking fakers
I’ll arrange you to meet your makers
Twist you up like a pretzel, kick you out on the tide
We watched you float away, and guess what? Nobody cried
You fucking fakers
You horrid haters
You sweet dumb creatures
You fucking fakers
Who are you?
Who are you fooling?

Pony

I was single and you were drunk
By midnight your battleship was sunk
And the waters were clear, the waters were open
One-half scared and the other half hopin’
That the night would end in unholy matrimony
Riding a hobby horse when you really wanted a pony
The touch of hands, the green light go
So high above to down below
I was straight, and you liked women
But with the battleships gone it was easy swimmin’
For the night to end in unholy matrimony
Riding a hobby horse when you really, really
wanted a pony
I was drunk and you were single
You popped me open like a can of Pringles
So fresh at first, but with all the wrong parts
Both of us wishing to go back to the start
Of the night that would end in unholy matrimony
Riding a hobby horse when you really, really,
really really wanted a pony

Inebriate Waltz
04:48
|
|

There’s no way in hell I’m gonna go out like that
I’m spilling over with poems, from my boots up through my hat
I wrote epics and sonnets and songs , but dammit -
All they remember is “Beautiful Willamette”
Too many bad poets, peddling nonsense and fluff
I think that the public has put up with enough
To you hacks and pretenders, I bid au revoir
I’d rather keep my head down at St. George’s bar
And inebriate
I rub my tears into a stubbled chin
As I look in and wince, as I lean out and grin
Over the river, do I turn tail and flee?
Or drop myself into that dark, weird sea?
And inebriate
That great big river, that great big fall
I coulda took the plunge to end it all
But those little liquor bottles, that sidewalk slip
It was the river that killed me, sip by sip
An inebriate
I gave it my life, it gave me my name
I guess even a footnote is a measure of fame
But every poem I wrote that you never read
I’ll recite to you nightly when you’re also dead

Greener Pastures
05:40
|
|
||
All of this time you’re spending with me
I’ll have to pay back, so many times
With the waters seeping from me
Like grapes crushed on the vine
And where the knives meet between the rows
I am cut and I do not grow back
The grass was greener so you jumped the fence
Our side was dried out and brown
Whose pastures did you run to?
Me and the dog sniffed for a clue in the stuff you left around
And when our teeth meet between the lips
I will bite until your flesh pulls back
I found you in the orchard that fall
You were rubbing bark off with your back
While beneath you your new lover shuddered
You threw your head back and laughed
And now I stay up all night and wait
I am sure that you must come back
All of this time you spent with me
I gotta pay back so many times

Cars
04:23
|
|
||
The line of cars in the late afternoon
Glitters from here to the horizon
It’s the sickest thing, all these pigs on the wing
That you’ve ever laid your eyes on
Making clouds of waste, skies of waste
Mountains and valleys and oceans of waste
And road rage, in my old age
It’s seeming so clear
That the end isn’t coming
It’s already here
The land is cut by ribbons of tar
And held together by wires
With slaughter on offer, for coins in the coffer
The squealing of pigs and of tires
For the piles of crap you bought for a song
Spilling out the garage and onto the lawn
And you’re smiling, not happy,
Wrinkled with fear
And you don’t see it coming
Cause it’s already here
Yes it’s already here
